WELCOME MESSAGE

The music program at Miami Springs Sr. High is designed to make music instruction accessible to every student.  Through learning to sing or play an instrument, a student will become acquainted with all aspects of music, as well as develop a strong sense of responsibility and discipline.  Broad, general topics are covered in the beginning classes, with greater depth and scope in the advanced classes.  Each class seeks to create an understanding and knowledge of music with life long benefits, as well as, skills that may continually develop.

The music program is a vital part of the MSSH experience, and now is reaching new and higher standards of excellence.  Our goal is to establish ourselves as fine performers and continue to grow through each performance.  With every year, we will increase the scope of our activities and reach new goals, thus creating a strong foundation on which to build.

Our program includes solo to full ensemble performance, a structured curriculum with clearly defined objectives, testing to measure and guide a student’s progress, and travel to hear other musicians perform.  In addition, qualified students have the opportunity to participate in Honor’s festivals at various levels.  In short, our program seeks to develop the individual into a well-rounded musician.  In becoming a member of these organizations, one assumes the responsibility of continuing to establish the highest standards of musicianship gained by sincere devotion, dedication, and hard work.
